Lilypad Bringing New Music to Alien Swirling Saucers at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Starting Friday, September 25, Imagineers are bringing fresh magic to Alien Swirling Saucers in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. They're thrilled to welcome Lilypad from the latest Disney-Pixar movie, Toy Story 5, to join Woody, Jessie, and Buzz Lightyear in the backyard. Lilypad, a lively, frog-shaped smart tablet, is on a mission to connect friends, using her tech to unite toys with a brand-new soundtrack for Alien Swirling Saucers: Lilypad’s Jams!

With DJ Lilypad spinning the tunes, this exciting new lineup includes reimagined Toy Story classics and original songs created just for this attraction, sure to have you returning for more. Lilypad is the music mastermind, connecting online to remix and blend various tunes from different music styles and genres.

This holiday season, DJ Lilypad is launching a playlist of new festive songs at Alien Swirling Saucers: Lilypad’s Jams. From November 4 to January 6, honorary toys can enjoy new versions of holiday favorites while swirling with the beloved little green aliens, featuring:

• “Deck the Halls”

• “Toyland”

• “Swirling, Swirling, Saucers”

• “Joy to the Swirl”

To create this new soundtrack, Imagineers traveled to Nashville, collaborating with top musicians across genres like pop, country, EDM, and alt-rock. “We wanted to rethink the music completely—taking beloved songs from the Toy Story films and crafting catchy new original songs that are singable, heartfelt, and a bit cheesy, like one about Pizza Planet,” said Thomas Niederhiser, Senior Creative Producer at Walt Disney Imagineering.

The Toy Story films are renowned for iconic songs that immerse audiences in the characters' journeys and stories. They're excited to reinvent some of these beloved tunes—like “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” “We Belong Together,” and “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away”—infusing them with fresh swirling energy just for this attraction.

Along with remixing classic Toy Story favorites that you adore, they're thrilled to expand the films with brand-new songs, such as the deep crust cut “Pizza Planet Promo,” the in-story theme song for everyone’s favorite pizza arcade, and “Spin It Back, Lilypad,” a tribute to the newest toy in the backyard.

“Working with our partners at Pixar Animation Studios to write for these characters and expand their stories is pure joy,” said Geoff Line, Senior Story Lead at Walt Disney Imagineering. “We played with these toys as kids. Now we get to play with them as Imagineers. It doesn’t get better than that.” And with Lilypad as DJ, many guests' favorite toys, like ‘Partysaurus Rex,’ are sure to get more airtime—err, playtime.

But you don’t have to ride to join the party! Lilypad is DJing for all honorary toys in the backyard, whether or not they’re on the Alien Swirling Saucers. Offboard, you can sing along as DJ Lily hypes and introduces tracks from her playlist and offers various entertainment between songs. Try to guess which toy she’s doodling on her drawing app, help her solve puzzles, and even watch “home videos” she’s recorded of some favorite Toy Story pals.

Since the first Toy Story film premiered in 1995, its story has resonated with audiences worldwide. Now, with the release of Toy Story 5, new generations of fans are creating memories with the series. They’re eager to welcome Lilypad to the backyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, bringing brand-new music to Alien Swirling Saucers: Lilypad’s Jams, starting Friday, September 25.
